Stock Image Sites

Finding free high quality stock images to use as backgrounds or general images for your capture pages is not easy, and is generally quite time consuming. I have put together a list of sites that offer high quality, free stock photos that you can use for commercial purposes. Most of these sites allow you to use an image without the need of attribution, however do check the licensing and attribution requirement before using an image in your project.

  • Pixabay: Offers a huge collection of free to use images (headers, backgrounds etc.).
  • Pexels: Free high quality photos you can use everywhere. Free for commercial use. No attribution required.
  • Pixnio: Pixnio images are explicitly placed in the public domain. You can use all pixio images from this site for whatever you want, use it freely for personal and commercial use.
  • Free Image Bay: Copyright free images for personal and commercial use at no cost. All photos and illustrations are licensed under creative commons and are free to use on websites and presentations. No copyright restrictions, no attribution requirements and no registration needed.
  • SplitShire: Delicious free stock photos for personal & commercial use.
  • IM Free: Free, only high quality, resources for all design projects. Free images, free icons, free templates. IM Free – the anti-stock photo website.
  • Gratisography: Free, use as you please, high-resolution pictures.
  • Unsplash: Free (do whatever you want) high-resolution stock photos. Download 10 new free stock photos every 10 days.
